There is, for me when considering my humanity, a mandala of parallels between mortality and sexuality, and this work explores these. In seeking how to express as frankly and explicitly as I could this equivalence between sex and death, I was immediately struck by an image of an ejaculating yet horrified man grappling desperately with a red ochre stained and somewhat malevolent-looking skeleton figure representative of death. Here, then, is the eternal struggle between life and death which suffuses all human experience: though we fear death, it is also somehow a friend - something we are drawn to spiritually as we withdraw from it biologically.
