For almost two millennia, the Sanctuary at Eleusis was the centre of a profound and sacred Mystery that enlightened the Archaic and Classical worlds with its experience of the Numinous and of the Divine. Initiates came from all over the civilised world and for those that had experienced them, the rites were unequalled - they made life bearable to the Greeks and went far beyond a mere ritual in praise of Demeter and Persephone. The secrets that were veiled in these rites have long thought to have been lost to Antiquity, however after a year-long visionary, mythological and experiential quest, I have found it possible to unfold some of the hidden nature of Eleusis. These sacred icons of the shapeshifting Eleusinian gods are the result of that process...
