These are from an occasional series called 'Day, Night and Hidden Light' in which each artwork contains a dual image - one visible and one hidden from normal view. The daylight image is rendered in my usual aesthetic, but as one gazes, one begins to notice a line or pale shadow here, a blurring of colour there which does not seem to fit - one senses there is something else going on. It is only when the artwork is illuminated in UV light that a transparently-painted UV Lacquer image emerges that reveals a previously-hidden sacred dynamic. Just as one can look upon the whole and "see in a sacred manner", so these artworks only reveal their transcendent secrets when viewed a certain way....
