The beauty and symmetry of Stillbay Points, dating from around 70,000 years ago, are justly famous in the archaeological community. Here we see a moment of teaching: it is easy to imagine that ancient people had to learn not only how to fashion the points for practical use, but also how to make them beautiful. In this beauty there may have been a symbolic meaning of its own. This design was not realised into a mural.
