:: Lucaioncatar ~ The Song of Lucaion ::

Cosmos     Earthly     Heavenly     Underworld     Ocean     Lucaion     Afer

Lucaioncatar             Tiarzecatar             Daiarzan             Ferxao

The Song of Lucaion is a Fernal Odyssey in five parts set across three of the Gardens of the Fernal Cosmos. It is the story of how the planets came to be in the sky, due to the actions of Lucaion, a queer hero called the 'Fisher of the Stars', in gathering them up and sailing up into the Heavens to put them there. In the Fernal Heavens, the planets don't move through the Zodiac, instead they move along the Heaventrack, the Milky Way, and for each planet, Lucaion has a task to complete which demonstrates his skill and cunning intelligence. He interacts rather than pacifies or destroys.

Lucaion is accompanied in these tasks by Ferzoncuai, his singing ship: that Lucaion and Ferzoncuai complement each other is suggested by their names – Lucaion, from luc 'inner light' and aion 'eternity within the field of time, lunar eternity' – and Ferzoncuai, from fer 'natural, pristine', zon 'music, wordless song' and cuai 'eternity outside the field of time, solar eternity'. Thus, just as in the song, between them they encompass the whole of totality, within and outside time.

Lucaion then enters the Underworld and dies, and it is the reciprocal actions of the planets which save him. He rides out again across the sky while Ferzoncuai sings the Song of Heaven before arriving back to the Earthly Garden to join with Ana, and sing the Thirteen Songs, the account of Creation. The Song of Lucaion is thus a kind of introduction to the Tiarzecatar, which follows but takes place before the action narrated here.
