:: TIARZECATAR :: THE THIRTEEN SONGS ::
:: FIFTH SONG :: IOFARAOCATAR :: THE SONG OF THREE LAUGHS ::
The four Cosmic Powers – Afer, Ana, Atlai and Ayia – come together and spontaneously a non-gendered fifth power – Atze, humanity – emerges among them. This suprises them, and they sing their delight in unison, noting that their group is now a sacred number five, and decide to create the Dannufin, the Ancestral Human Powers, in three tribes. Afer, Ana and Atze come together and sing the first tribe of Dannufin into existence: the woman of wild trees, for the gatherers; the man of wild animals, for the hunters, and the queer of fire, also called Metehuia (Prometheus), for the shamans. Tzihuia, the Sky Trickster, tries to steal fire from the people and take it to the sky to keep for himself but foolishly burns his hands and drops it, causing Afer to laugh out loud. This is the First Laugh of the Cosmos.
Afer, Atlai and Atze come together and sing the second tribe of Dannufin into existence: the woman of domesticated plants, for the farmers; the man of domesticated animals for the herders; and the queer of community for the prayer (mio) speakers of the village. Again, Sky Trickster attempts to disrupt the process by making the prayer speakers sing destructive, angry words. But instead, they begin to sing bawdy sexual songs, causing Afer to laugh out loud. This is the Second Laugh of the Cosmos.
Afer, Ayia and Atze come together and sing the third tribe of Dannufin into existence: the woman of bronze, for the city makers, the man of iron for the fiery toolmakers, and the queer of silicon for the lightning thinkers. They build a tower upon the earth, but Sky Trickster confuses their languages so that they cannot speak to each other. Atze ensures all the languages become delightful expressions of creativity, causing Afer to laugh out loud. This is the Third Laugh of the Cosmos.
Tzihuia, Sky Trickster, is here a Fernal analogue of Zeus or the Old Testament God, but turned into a rather desperate-looking figure whose actions can only make Afer laugh. In the Song of Lucaion, Tzihuia is a more compassionate and cooperative figure, and the episode here explains his burnt hands in that song.
io to fin, the Dannufin we join in a union of five, bring forth Atze from the united song, seeing that for the gatherers, the Woman of Wild Trees, behold, Tzihuia comes to the First Tribe, for the farmers, the Woman of Domesticated Plants, behold, Tzihuia comes to the Second Tribe, for the city makers, the Woman of Bronze, behold, Tzihuia comes to the Third Tribe, seeing that the Human Powers are arrayed, and so we who raise our song here in the heart of the Ebion Shining, |
