An image taken directly from a December 2007 dream and half-dream/hypnogogic experience, this piece was a labour of love lasting some three or four months, and represented a return to painting from the archetypal illustration of the previous five years. Based upon a digital illustration which was a previous attempt to render the experience in which I felt the presence of a transcendent human energy, I have intended here to depict the angelic and organic aspects of an androgynous human being, following the characteristics of the dream, and for a long time I had no real idea what to name the piece. However, after a period spent in Crete and surrounded by the Minoan imagery of the Goddess of Epiphanies, the title for the work became clear. I wasn't going to include this work on the new version of the website, but on January 6th, the Feast of Epiphany in the Christian tradition, I unwrapped this painting and decided that, yes, as the ancestor of the Life:Blood series, it should be seen...
